2011 ADVERTISING AWARDS JUDGING PANEL AND JUDGING CRITERIA
Applied Arts contests are judged by panels of highly regarded industry professionals and experts, in a rigorous process developed over our two decades of awards experience. Every entry is scored independently by each judge, based on creative merit, technical excellence and suitability for end use. Discussion is not permitted and judges must abstain from voting for their own work. All winners are reproduced in the country’s most glorious showcase of creative work, kept as a valuable reference by the Applied Arts readership of 46,000.

Alvin Wasserman President Wasserman + Partners Advertising Vancouver Open Bio Close Bio |
|
Alvin has been in this industry long enough to leave some distinguishing markings along the way. He is responsible for many powerful and memorable ad campaigns. He helped build “Super, Natural British Columbia” into a brand, not just a destination. His highly visible creative approach to Drinking Driving CounterAttack and Anti-Racism campaigns broke important ground in social marketing. His early adoption of platform neutral media – from web applications to beer coasters offered clients integrated communications before it became a buzzword. From writer, to creative director to founder of the largest full service independent agency in Vancouver, Alvin believes in solving business problems through creativity shaped by strategic elegance. If he had a nickel for every "Go To Heaven. Ski Like Hell" sweatshirt sold at Whistler, he'd have, well, a lot of nickels and his office would be even more untidy. Follow him on Twitter at AlvinWasserman.

Patricia Doiron Freelance Copywriter Montreal Open Bio Close Bio |
|
Patricia is a hybrid, that fantastical being found mainly Montréal. Half-French, half-English she creates in both languages to provide clients with the campaigns they deserve: sometimes that’s good, sometimes not so much… She may have won an award here, been short-listed there, but is more into software than hardware. Paradoxically, she’s thrilled to be on this jury.
